Will my allergies and sinus problems be relieved by acupuncture?

by admin on October 13, 2009

I have had allergies all my life ( I am 21) and have given up hope with nasal sprays and taking pills. Will acupuncture help me? Also, what kinds of questions should I ask an acupuncturist to know if he/she is qualified?

Possibly or it might perhaps help.

Terminal sinus problems can only be relieved temporarily with nasal sprays which can actually damage your sinuses and antibiotics are no good either because they don’t overcome the problem of overactive mucus glands.

Switching from mucus generating dairy products and red meat to soy milk and white meat will help. Fish is better than chicken.

in a word , yes – but there needs to be changes in life to assist the treatments . From my experience a combination of acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine is the ideal situation for such conditions ( such as cang er san or Bimian )- most important is to see a qualified acupuncturist and they will (hopefully) so you and tell you how and why you condition has got to the place your at . i have had very good results , with this said they all take a while to resolve them self

As for qualifications in Australia they need to be with AACMA ( Australian acupuncture and Chinese medicine association) but in other countries you may need to check if they are with a similar associations

Studies conducted on acupuncture in the West suggest that acupuncture may help to relieve pain, headaches, treat nerve conditions, mitigate asthma, and address nausea and vomiting. It is also useful for conditions like carpal tunnel syndrome, back pain, cramps, fibromyalgia and the pain of arthritis. The World Health Organization recommends acupuncture to help with stress, substance abuse, and allergies. In general in the West, acupuncture is used as a complementary form of medicine, and is combined with other treatments for maximum effectiveness.

am a big fan of acupuncture and Chinese herbs. had sessions a few years back for nasal polyps.wanted to try anything and everything before i was admitted for a scheduled op,it worked!!!!! i no longer have polyps, haven’t done for last 11 years so i would recommend it highly and best of all,its really relaxing and doesn’t hurt a bit!!!!check out their credentials first either by word of mouth or the register of homeopaths.herbalists and acupuncture practitioners.(i think that’s what its called)
