More and more people are now open to the Eastern medicine and therapy, including the use of Asian styles of massage. Several types of massage originated from the east such as the shiatsu, reflexology, and the Thai massage. Aside from herbal medications originating from different parts of Asia, another exotic treatment that has achieved worldwide recognition is called acupuncture. It is one of the most common medical procedures practiced in China, Japan, Korea and other parts of the world.

Acupuncture involves the activation or stimulation of certain anatomical points in the body by use of various techniques. Medical traditions coming from Korea, China, Japan, and other Asian countries are the basis for the American practice of acupuncture. This specific health procedure includes the penetration of thin, solid metal needles that are handled manually or by the use of electrical stimulation. These needles are not that painful when inserted through the skin, but it has a different feeling with minimal pain involved. There are different experiences when this kind of medication is exercised. After being treated, some people feel energized, while others feel much more relaxed. It is important to have this medical procedure done by a professional acupuncture practitioner, since an improper placement of the needle, unnecessary movement of the patient, or a needle defect can cause pain and soreness during the course of the treatment.

Acupuncture can be used as an alternative treatment for health conditions such as postoperative and chemotherapy nausea and vomiting and for postoperative dental pain. This procedure is also useful in the healing of other health concerns like headaches, menstrual cramps, addiction, stroke rehabilitation, lower back pain, tennis elbow, myofascial pain, fatigue, osteoarthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome, asthma, and fibromyalgia.

This type of alternative treatment can ease the pain of the mentioned ailments above, as well as fibromyalgia. Since this illness may not be known by most people, fibromyalgia refers to a widespread of pain in muscles, tendons, and ligaments. This ailment is also characterized by fatigue and numerous tender points, or certain areas in a person’s body where a slight pressure can cause pain.

Acupuncture is also used to treat several conditions just like fibromyalgia, and this can also be a form of relaxation, as stated earlier. Considering fatigue is caused by excessive exhaustion, weariness, tiredness or lethargy, the practice of this healing treatment can make the body feel relaxed and at the same time cures ailments by using these thin metal needles.

The practice of acupuncture cannot be explained fully by western health research. According to Traditional Chinese Medicine theory, acupuncture treatment is used to achieve balance between two inseparable forces, the yin and the yang, which exist in the human body. Chinese practitioners use certain points along the so-called body meridians as targets for inserting the needles. These points correspond to a specific internal organ. The stimulation of the point brings healing to the ailing internal organ and allows the flow of internal energy or ‘chi’ to go unhindered, resulting in perfect balance and health inside the human body. While this healing method has been used for thousands of years, it is still a subject of intense debate especially in the Western medical community.

Candida Solutions: Is Acupuncture a Good Option?

Candida solutions can be multi layered and acupuncture may be something you want to consider as a part of your approach. Many candida infection sufferers have tried many over the counter medications and continue to suffer relapses. Those looking at alternative healing and traditional Chinese medicine can find many proponents of acupuncture who report great success in battling candida after employing the services of an acupuncturist. An acupuncture treatment can stimulate strength in your immune system and help your body in many ways.

When you are suffering from a poor balance of flora in your system, your immune system is off. If you have a problem with your immune system, it impacts your body’s pH and this creates a ripple effect. Yeast overgrowth can happen due to a poor immune system and the presence of candida can cause imbalance in your immune system as well. A vicious circle!

How do you get candida infections?

Candida albicans that already exist in your intestines can harm your health if they grow out of control. The result can be many health problems like brain fog, food cravings, allergy symptoms, sluggishness, rashes and other health issues. Candida infections can happen due to many reasons including a flora imbalance due to antibiotics or poor eating habits.

It can also be that you are prone to these infections due to immune system deficiencies which can happen for many different reasons. It stands to reason that your immune system’s strength could directly impact the ability for candida bacteria to grow. Candida-Solutions.com provides you with a wealth of information about the impact of this illness and can help you learn many ways to battle it. One such area to pursue is acupuncture.

acupuncture and Your Immune System

Acupuncture can boost your immune system which could help your body fight off infection and unhealthy bacteria such as candida. While you are fighting candida with medication, with a special diet or with herbs, you can also increase your body’s response to treatment by enhancing your immune system.

Once considered an alternative treatment not given significant credit by the medical community, acupuncture is now covered by many insurance plans and is often recommended by physicians who have seen for themselves the benefits. Research and scientific studies have proven the effectiveness of acupuncture for everything from pain relief to stress reduction to a boost to the immune system.

Benefits of Acupuncture

Acupuncture originates in Eastern medicine where it has been used for centuries as a primary treatment for a variety of ailments. While there are many different acupuncture techniques, the basis of the treatment is that it cleanses the body’s system, promoting positive energy flow throughout the body.

This is done as a trained acupuncturist positions long, thin needles into specific points on the body. The location of the needle depends on the areas needing recovery or strengthening. The needles are believed to draw the energy flow to the areas of sickness, which frees up the flow allowing the areas to heal.

What are the specific benefits of acupuncture?

Lower pain levels or pain elimination Boost to the immune system Faster healing times following illness Reduction of stress levels Increased strength and energy Weight loss and cellulite reduction

Patients who fight diseases such as cancer and HIV/AIDS have reported excellent results from receiving acupuncture along with their other more traditional treatments. Additionally, people with candida have experienced healing through the immune system boost acupuncture provides.

Other acupuncture fans explain that the treatment is great as a preventative technique, helping them to keep their body healthy and the positive energy flowing through their body.

Candida lives everywhere and makes a home most often in our digestive systems. Our digestive system is where three quarters of our immune system resides so acupuncture treatment provides the ability to strengthen our immune system functions and this can result in success in not only curing candida symptoms but helping your body’s ability to maintain a perfect pH balance.

When considering acupuncture to battle candida problems, there are acupuncturists who specialize in candidiasis specifically.

If you are in San Fernando Valley, and have been experiencing symptoms of pain due to diseases, perhaps acupuncture can be of aid to you. Acupuncture has long been known as a very effective alternate therapy. The procedure itself requires the insertion of needles into specific points on our body which can then relive pain and stress.

Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese therapy which combines the Chinese spiritualism and traditional medicine to give you freedom from pain and disease. The points on our body into which these needles are inserted, are not chosen randomly. In fact, they are scientifically located on the meridians of our body.

According to traditional Chinese medicine, our body functions on a ‘life force’, which is an invisible energy that runs along the meridians of the body. The Chinese believe that if this life energy is blocked due to some reason, it can cause disease. Here’s how acupuncture can heal different diseases:

Angina

Angina is a condition which is characterized by severe pain in the chest. This is caused when oxygen and blood do not reach the muscles of the heart properly. Electro acupuncture, which is an advanced type of acupuncture, helps generate electric pulses, helping the angina in some of the patients.

Headaches

With the help of acupuncture, you can ease migraines and other long term pains. A lot of people suffer from migraines and headaches, without ever getting the right kind of treatment. An acupuncturist in San Fernando Valley can help you get rid of this pain for good.

Depression

Depression is a biochemical condition which is manifested in emotional ways. This can cause you a perpetual feeling of sadness. You may feel averse to social activity and may like to remain aloof. While traditionally, medicinal drugs and psychotherapy have been used to treat depression, acupuncture is fast becoming an effective alternate therapy that can help treat depression completely.

Weight Loss

If you have been dieting since a long time and haven’t seen any changes or benefits, perhaps it is time to give acupuncture a try. Acupuncture can help suppress your appetite so that you do not end up overeating. The therapy can help you cut down any powerful craving that you might have, keeping appetite in control and reducing weight. It has been observed that with the help of acupuncture, you can lose up to 5 Kg of weight.

Blood Pressure

For those who suffer from high blood pressure, acupuncture can be very effective. A long term research has recently shown that patients suffering from hypertension who have had acupuncture performed on them, experience a marked improvement. When acupuncture is performed on people suffering from hypertension, the body releases polypeptides and beta endorphins which can naturally lower blood pressure.

Balance Disorders

It is the inner ear of the body that helps maintain the body’s balance. Though there is not much research available on how acupuncture can help patients suffering from balance disorders, it is believed that it can in fact help improve balance disorders as well.

Acupuncture is already a renowned method used in treating smoking addiction. An alternative medicine believed to have originated as far as 3000 BC in ancient China, this treatment is now being widely utilized for various medicinal and therapeutic purposes. It has been found furthermore to successfully treat drug dependence and chronic smoking addiction.

There are several smoking cessation medications and therapies available presently. However acupuncture is a recommended alternative procedure, especially where conventional therapies have already failed. The strategic insertion of needles in various parts of the body aims to treat the condition in a more profound and emotional level. A smoker needs to free himself from the physiological and psychological addiction of smoking, thus necessitating a more holistic treatment.

How Acupuncture Stops The Smoking Addiction
The placement of needles is usually located behind the ear, or on the ear cartilage. This is where the calming effect takes place, curbing the patient’s cravings for more cigarettes. People who have a smoking habit are bound to take up the nicotine stick more often whenever they feel stressed, bored, or depressed. Needles are also often inserted on the hand and wrists to promote a steadier flow of bodily energy. The feeling of relaxation will help an individual think twice about lighting a cigarette again.

Furthermore, this treatment has been found to help an individual deal with the withdrawal symptoms better. This alternative medicine promotes better tolerance to pain and discomfort during smoking cessation. Withdrawal symptoms can range from mild to severe and may involve nausea, palpitations, and dizziness. Oftentimes, these same conditions will propel an individual back to his smoking tendencies sooner than later.

Nicotine is the addictive and toxic substance present in a cigarette. This is the same substance that makes quitting a big challenge for most smokers. The nicotine that you get from smoking will attach itself to the pleasure areas in the brain, making it hard for you to stop. Without a steady stream of this substance, a smoker will tend to feel depressed and uncomfortable.

People who have undergone acupuncture treatment reported that they no longer find cigarettes as tempting or as satisfying. Oftentimes, smoking would leave an awful taste in their mouths prompting them to stop their habit for once. Some patients would even resort to eating mints or lozenges to clear to get rid of the terrible aftertaste.

According to skilled practitioners, approximately 7 out of 10 smokers will successfully extricate themselves from their smoking habit after 2 or 3 weeks. While the others are unable to quit totally, these smokers will be able to cut down on their cigarette consumption quite significantly.

Treatment from Acupuncture Experts
It is very essential for a patient to consult with a skilled acupuncturist. A more personalized service will be provided by an expert, as well as added counseling for the patient. Moreover, an acupuncturist may prescribe herbal supplements to aid the patient in quitting efforts.

During treatment, filiform needles are inserted into specific points on the ear cartilage, as well as the hands and wrists. Normal procedures last for about 30 minutes. Body acupuncture can be used in combination with the ear and wrist needle placements. An acupuncturist may also utilize a mild electric current, to enhance the effect of the needles through the body.

The greatest advantage of this ancient Oriental procedure is the absence of side-effects during and after treatment. Unlike smoking cessation medications and nicotine replacement therapy products, acupuncture does not employ chemically manufactured substances. There is also no risk of weight gain during therapy. In conjunction with helping a patient quit smoking, it can also curb appetite, thus reducing food cravings.

If you have tried several methods in smoking cessation to no avail, perhaps it is high time you consider the alternative method that is acupuncture. With the right practitioner and the right frame of mind, there is no reason why you won’t be nicotine-free.

To Be or Not to Be At All

Oriental medicine is a safe and extremely old way of healing, with more than 2,000 years of development. It is different from the practice of medicine which is most common in the western world. The Western medical model considers the body as a physical thing and treats it as something other than and separate from the mind. Oriental medicine views the mind and the body as an integrated phenomenon. Western medical practices are focused on the elimination of symptoms. The aim of medical treatment, from the perspective of Oriental medicine, is to establish a balance of forces within the person and facilitate a natural relationship with the environment. Symptoms are clues which offer a description of the pattern of an imbalance and indicate areas of weakness. Correcting the imbalance will naturally work to alleviate the symptoms, not simply mask them.

The Chinese system of acupuncture identifies the location and characteristics of several hundred points which serve to energize the body. Acupuncture points have names which are descriptive of their characteristic qualities, and categories which indicate their application for treatment. Extremely fine stainless steel needles are inserted into these points to adjust the energy flowing through them. A typical treatment might involve a dozen points, used in a combination designed to act in a synergistic fashion. acupuncture is often associated with the treatment of physical illness and pain. However, physical healing is simply one of the possible uses of acupuncture.

Acupuncture, emotional healing and spiritual transformation

Thoughts and feelings have significant effects on the health of the body. Careful study and observation of the physical body will indicate a pattern which is reflective of mental and emotional states. An awareness of psychology will similarly reveal a pattern which is indicative of a spiritual state. Energy which is blocked will lead to disease, and ultimately physical disability. Everyone wishes to live a satisfying life. We have some basic needs, such as food and shelter, and psychological needs for self-expression and recognition. In the process of growing we are given direction by our parents, and look to the example of others for answers to the question of who and what we are. Our needs are met through relations with others and with the world we are living in.

When our relations with others are not able to provide us with the things which we need we begin to question – what is it that I am looking for? This proves to be a turning point in our relationship to life. Somehow we have arrived in a place that does not correspond to who and what we wish and need to be. We have forgotten ourselves and believed in things which are not true. The world seems to be quite different than what we assumed it was going to be. At this point we are faced with a choice: we can either pretend that everything is just fine, or we can seek to transform our life into something which is more meaningful, and therefore also more satisfying to us. The transformation of our life proves to be a difficult but ultimately inescapable challenge. What makes it difficult is our lack of a proper psychological education, and the circumstances which would conspire to make us conform to a common consensual reality. What makes it inescapable is the fact that it is not possible to avoid making choices, and living with the consequences of our choices.

The world as we experience it is effectively a reflection of our beliefs and attitudes about ourselves. Our physical body is a manifestation of the choices which we have made. As the manifestation of our consciousness the physical experience is something that originates in the Heart and mind of the person. Our ‘energy’ creates the form of our experience. There are certain places at which there is a nexus which links together the multiple dimensions of our experience. These points are primary alignment points for the Lightbody. One of the ways in which acupuncture can be helpful is to establish or confirm the correspondence of the higher and lower aspects of experience through the use of these alignment points.

In the process of relating with others we experiment with playing different roles, seeking to find the ones which suit us. It often happens that in the process of our experience there are painful things which happen. These can cause there to be an emotional wound which blocks or distorts the energy which serves illuminate our inner experience. There can be a kind of fear which develops that gets in the way of having an entirely open and honest relationship with life, and with the people we are close with. This kind of circumstance is often the underlying imbalance which leads to depression, and when it becomes chronic can manifest as a degenerative disorder. Acupuncture works directly within the matrix of energy and manifestation to facilitate a nervous break-through. This greatly accelerates the process of psychological and spiritual maturation.

The truth of who and what we are is something extraordinary and unique. In our lives we are struggling to manifest this and are wanting to know how we can do this. Actually what is happening is that we are participating in the evolution of consciousness, and in the manifestation of Spirit in this material world. Love is the true source of life, and the process of our experience is a way of growing to know and manifest this Love in a conscious way. Because Love is the source of who and what we are, what we are needing to do is to remember this in the process of our lives. Many acupuncture points are effective supports for doing this.

In the cosmology of acupuncture the Heart is considered to be the center of our being and the source of everything. One of the subtleties of acupuncture is the recognition that although the Heart is the Source, the Heart does not act directly to create the order present in life. The personality has the responsibility for communicating the intentions of the Heart to the world and making them manifest. When the personality does not conform to the intentions of the Heart – there is a pathology. These types of pathologies can be addressed through acupuncture. What counseling does through a process of therapy, acupuncture does directly. Because acupuncture works directly with the pattern of energy it can accelerate transformation and help a person to return to a healthy and fully integrated state of being. Rediscovering the Love which is inside us, and removing the walls which have been built around the Heart makes it possible to freely and fully engage in living our life.

A complete discussion of the many ways in which it is possible to diagnose and treat energetic and spiritual disorders would require much more than can be offered in this short article. There are many styles of acupuncture, and practitioners to choose from. Your acupuncturist should be someone that you trust and respect. Ask them to tell you what kind of work they do, and expect them to offer you some insight into things which you can do to improve your health and sense of wellbeing.

Acupuncture for migraine relief is a treatment migraine suffers should not overlook. Migraine headaches are one of the most debilitating physical ailments one can experience. When migraines emerge they prevent a person from focusing on work, school, hobbies and virtually anything that doesn’t involve a dark, cool, soundproof room. Even more frustrating is that scientists and doctors are unable to give concrete physiological evidence explaining exactly what a migraine headache is. The list of potential migraine triggers is incredibly broad and can leave a migraine victim feeling helpless and depressed. It can seem as if conventional western medicine has thrown up its hands saying, ‘Take Drug X, and call me in the morning,’ and then leaves the phone off the hook.

Thankfully, acupuncture for migraine relief has been gaining mainstream attention. It’s success is noted by medical powerhouses such as The Mayo Clinic and Johns Hopkins Medicine. One thing both conventional and non-conventional practitioners agree on is that migraines are triggered by an imbalance in the body. Whether that imbalance stems from too much caffeine, insufficient sleep, or lunar hormonal cycles, a migraine is the body’s way of communicating something is wrong and needs to be re-balanced. Holistic health practitioners know that balance is the key to a healthy mind, body and spirit. Acupuncture serves as a healing method to restore that balance.

What is a migraine?
Understanding the physiology of a migraine helps to illuminate why acupuncture for migraine relief is successful. Anatomy and Physiology classes teach that the brain is actually devoid of pain receptors. This seems impossible to someone who experiences any grade of headache, let alone a migraine. However, the brain’s vascular system does intersect with neural pathways. It’s most likely in this neurovascular relationship that migraine pain is transmitted through the body’s nervous system.

Acupuncture for migraine relief | the scientific connection

Acupuncture’s roots are embedded in the Chinese Medicine belief that Yang (Qi – or ‘energy’) and Yin (blood) energy must be in harmony for one to be healthy. Acupuncture works with the body’s Qi. Using the body’s meridians (energy channels), acupuncture stimulates energy flow where there has been a blockage and releases energy where there is an over abundance. A trained acupuncturist will also work with the patient to identify what sensitivities trigger the onset of a migraine. These triggers and symptom patters will help your acupuncture doctor identify which meridians to treat. In this way, the acupuncturist will use acupuncture to bring balance – and to maintain balance – within the body.

The neurovascular migraine connection actually parallels the ancient understanding of the body’s yin and yang. Where the vascular system is the yin and the neurological system is the yang. Acupuncture for migraine relief, working in both modalities, is the most natural way to provide migraine relief.

Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese method to combat sleeplessness. To treat Insomnia, people sometimes use acupuncture. It is the best source of treating insomnia for many ages. Insomnia is a disorder in which the sufferer has poor sleep which prompts them to get up many times during the course of the night.

Anti depressant medication also helps a lot, but mostly these medications contain some side effects. They usually interfere with your sleep, cause some drowsiness, and if taken in extra doses may rebound the insomnia. acupuncture has an extremely soothing effect on the nervous system. With their use, you may alter the imbalance caused by the insomnia with no side effects.

Apart from the improved sleep, those who have used acupuncture treatment have obtained a good feeling of their well-being and feel considerable improvement in their health. Acupuncture is a technique in which very fine needle is inserted into the body points. With these needles, surface points of the body are stimulated that produce both physical and mental changes essential for your body.

Insomnia is a disorder that can cause disharmony in the cycle of the body. When you don’t get enough sleep, your body produces the stress hormones causing you to drink more tea, coffee, which in turn stimulate more Insomnia.

Insomnia problem can be solved, if you start sleeping in your natural manner. For that, memory foam mattress may contribute substantially to make you sleep better. In addition to it, if you have attended a few sessions of acupuncture for insomnia treatment, you may notice some distinguished results to get better and sound sleep at night.

Once you go for the insomnia treatment, the consumption of caffeine is completely stopped. You may also opt for specially designed herbal medicine and also bring some changes in your life style. After attending several sessions of insomnia treatment via acupuncture, you no longer be in need of relying on anything. Also, acupuncture treatment for insomnia is often specific according to the needs of an individual.

Thus, acupuncture treatment is a safe alternative to this sleep disorder of Insomnia. People using this method can find a permanent solution to their sleeping problems. With acupuncture, you can significantly reduce your stress hormones, and bring balance to the nervous system.

The term Acupuncture is a combination of two Latin words ‘acus’ which means needle and ‘pungere’ means prick. It is actually an ancient Chinese medical procedure in which needles were inserted into patient along some well-defined meridian points. In ancient China, stone needles were used for the treatment; then as metals were discovered later needle were made of bronze, silver and even gold. In modern days, needles are made of stainless steel.

Acupuncture points are most important part of Acupuncture therapy. These are actually the various stimulation points from various body parts. According to ancient theory; all these points have a direct access to stimulate the meridians, which are imaginary channels from where vital energy flows. There are more than 360 stimulation points; when needles are inserted or somehow stimulation of these points is done then it either interrupts or stimulates the energy flow.

This interruption or stimulation of points can cause analgesic effect that will reduce or completely eliminate pain. It can even stimulate a more strong energy flow which can heal the various health problems. All these acupuncture points are mapped to 14 major meridian lines, for group 12 inner organs one meridian; one meridian along the spine which is called governing vessel and one more along the midline of abdomen which is called as conception vessel. The measure that is used to find acupuncture points is called ‘Cun’. Generally one Cun is equal to space between the distal interphalangeal joint and proximal interphalangeal joint on middle finger.

All these Acupuncture points are categorized as per their functions. First category of such Acupuncture points is
Five transporting points system: This system explains the flow of energy (which called as ‘qi’ in Chinese) using analogy of rivers and points are described as points along the flow line. According to this system; ‘qi’ bubbles up from a spring and gradually grows in depth and breadth like a river flowing down from mountain to the ocean’.
In this five transporting system there are points;
* Jing well points are the points that represent energy flow when it bubbles up; these points are located on tips of fingers and toes.
* Ying spring points are where the energy river glides down the channel, these points indicate heat of the body and they also show the changes in our complexion.
* Shu stream; these points indicate heaviness of body along with painful areas in joints and intermittent diseases.
* Jing river points give indication of cough and dyspnoea, fever and chills and foe bone diseases.
* He sea points are where qi unites and heads deeper into the body; these points are useful for indicating diarrhea. The counter flow of qi and these points also indicates the disorders caused by irregular eating and drinking.

Along with Five transporting points, there are some other sets of points like five phase points, Xi cleft points, Yuan source points, Luo connecting points, Back shu points, front Mu points, Hue meeting points.

Acupuncture treatment is successfully used to treat ear, nose and throat disorders, and then respiratory disorders. It is also useful in treating gastro intestinal and eye disorders, along with neurological and musculo-skeletal disorders.

Of all the curing bad breath remedies we’ve come across in our research this one seems a little outside the box. At least from the point of view of a typical western consumer who’s been trained to throw more pills at any problem and it’ll eventually go away or at least you won’t feel so bad.

The Chinese believe, as part of the traditional Chinese medicine system, that bad breath can be caused by a malfunctioning digestive system and they have a cure for it. Before we talk about the cause and the cure, we need to talk a little bit about the medicine.

Traditional Chinese Medicine has been around along time, 2000 to 3000 years in fact. The traditional Chinese medicine’s, approach to diagnosing and curing illnesses is fundamentally different from western medicine. The basic principals of traditional Chinese medicine are that all creation is born from the interdependency of two principles, the yin and yang. The two are in ever lasting motion that creates the balance in a health body. When either the yin or the yang becomes unbalanced, this is when disease and illness results. One of the body elements in traditional Chinese medicine is Qi (pronounced ‘chee’) this is the energy that gives as the power to think, move, work and feel. Qi passes along on a system of conduits, the primary ones being channels. This is all manipulated or affected by various forms of tradition Chinese medicine from acupuncture right through to naturopathy.

Now that we know some extreme basics on traditional Chinese medicine, we can talk about the bad breath. The Chinese believe that the digestive system not function correctly is one of the causes for bad breath and more specifically ‘Stomach Heat’ being the culprit.

Stomach heat as the name implies is too much heat in the stomach. This causes bad breath, gum problems, mouth ulcers and frontal head aches. Stomach heat can be caused by a number of factors from high stress to a bad diet. Correcting the original catalyst could very well solve your problem otherwise you may need some external help in the form of acupuncture.

Acupuncture has been around a very long time and is one of the many techniques that Chinese have been using for thousands of years. For those that do not know, acupuncture is the practice of placing very thin needles in various areas of your body to affect the body’s energy. Acupuncture is used to restore the balance and harmonizes the yin and yang; this in turn relieves the heat in your stomach and your bad breath.
